Dr. Dickson Malunda

Research Associate

Dr. Dickson Malunda is a Development Economist a PhD in Economics from the University of Trento. His thesis was entitled ‘Commodity Markets, Risk and Poverty, A case of Uganda.’ Dickson also holds a Masters degree in Development Economics from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. His research interests are in poverty, employment and economic transformation. He has over six years experience as a researcher. He is currently a research associate at Institute of Policy Analysis and Research ( IPAR-Rwanda). Prior to joining IPAR, Dickson worked as a Poverty Economist at the World Bank office in Rwanda. He was the team leader for a project on Rwanda’s economic transformation which was a multi-country project funded and commissioned African Center for Economic Transformation in Ghana.
Dickson has also worked on the Women’s Economic Empowerment ! Survey, worked on Action Aid’s Public financing for Agriculture project and is the team leader for the EAC regional project on innovative approaches to tackling youth unemployment . The project covers Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. In addition, he has done a baseline survey and report for ActionAid’s public financing for Agriculture(PFA) project. He has also worked on ActionAid’s participatory baseline which included monitoring indicators for ActionAid’s Rwanda country program covering the period 2012 to 2018. He has also completed a research project on Rwanda’s labour markets funded and commissioned by IDRC and the University of Witswatersrand a in South Africa.
