UNLOCKING HOMES' BUSINESS ACUMEN: “Study on Household Enterprises in Rwanda”
Reducing poverty levels in Rwanda remains the biggest challenge for Rwanda according to preliminary findings of the MDGs 2010 progress report. Apparently, most of the non-agricultural poor in Africa are engaged in the informal economy, largely through household-based activities. Thus, a better understanding of the dynamics, constraints, and potential of informal enterprises and workers is essential for designing policies and interventions that can turn it into an engine of employment and income growth.
The World Bank has contracted IPAR to conduct a study aimed at unlocking homes’ business acumen to turn them into engines of both employment and economic growth. Dubbed: “Study on Household Enterprises in Rwanda. The study findings are to support the Rwandan Government in the development of a national strategy for increasing the productivity of Household Enterprises. The study kick-started early May 2010 and the final report should be ready in 20 working weeks.
