Ms. UWINEZA Peace

Ms. UWINEZA Peace is a member of the IPAR-Rwanda Board of Directors. She is currently the Deputy Director of Excella School, an international School, located in Kigali. Prior to that, Ms. Uwineza worked with the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat in Arusha, Tanzania as a Peace and Security Advisor as well as Program Assistant to the EAC/GIZ’s Program on Promotion of Peace and Security. At the EAC, she was involved in the implementation of joint EAC-GIZ activities in the areas of conflict early warning, conflict analysis, mediation and electoral observation.

She served as a peace building practitioner and researcher on several political and social-economic challenges to peace in Rwanda, with the Institute of Research and Dialogue for Peace (IRDP) – 2001 to 2011. While working with Rwanda’s National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC) – 1999 to 2001, Ms. Uwineza coordinated the National Grassroots Consultations. Ms. Uwineza holds two Masters Degrees : one in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, Virginia, USA (2005-2007) and the second in Managing Peace and Security in Africa from Addis-Ababa University (2012-2013). She has published on women and peace building, history and conflict, and on the role of dialogue in Rwanda’s peace building process.
